Curriculum & Learning
Inspiring a love for learning from the start
Our curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), offering a balance of structured learning and child-led exploration — all within a warm, faith-based environment.
Through play, stories, creative arts and outdoor discovery, children develop essential early skills while exploring the world around them.
We ensure each child progresses in all areas of learning.
The Seven Areas of Learning:
-
Communication & Language – Building vocabulary through conversation, storytelling and listening.
-
Personal, Social & Emotional Development – Developing confidence, friendships and self-awareness.
-
Physical Development – Enhancing coordination through play, movement and outdoor fun.
-
Literacy – Introducing sounds, letters and a love of books.
-
Mathematics – Exploring numbers, shapes and patterns through hands-on activities.
-
Understanding the World – Learning about our community, nature and Allah’s creation.
-
Expressive Arts & Design – Encouraging creativity through art, music and imaginative play.
Our Approach to Early Learning
We learn through play, guided by faith, surrounded by care.
Islamic Learning
We weave Islamic values and simple teachings naturally into each day — including Qur’an stories, duas, Arabic letters, and celebrations of Islamic festivals.
Parent Partnership
Parents are children’s first teachers. We regularly invite parents to join phonics, numeracy and Qur’an workshops, and share home-learning ideas to strengthen progress together.
Learning Through Play
Play drives learning at Oakwood Nursery, helping children explore, create, and develop confidence, curiosity, and essential skills in a fun, hands-on, engaging environment.
“And say, ‘My Lord, increase me in knowledge.’”
— Surah Taha (20:114)
